About the SC Newsletter

The first issue of the ISPRS Student Consortium Newsletter was published in Autumn 2007, following the 2nd Summer School held in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Since then, the newsletter has served as a key channel for reporting on WG VI/5 and SC member activities, research highlights, and international collaborative projects.

Each volume captures the work and voices of students and early-career researchers in photogrammetry, remote sensing, and geoinformation. The archive spans Volumes 1 through 10.

The ISPRS Student Consortium serves as an official communication platform that connects students and early-career researchers across the fields of photogrammetry, remote sensing, and spatial information science. Through its network of members and partner institutions, the consortium provides special offers, grants, and practical training opportunities designed to support academic exchange and professional growth. By fostering a vibrant scientific and social community, the consortium helps emerging scholars build meaningful connections with peers and established researchers alike, creating pathways for collaboration that extend well beyond individual projects and conferences.

Beyond its newsletter, the Student Consortium maintains a rich archive of materials that document the evolution of student-led activities in the geospatial sciences. Proceedings from summer schools, technical reports, and educational resources are made available to the wider community, ensuring that knowledge generated by students is shared openly and preserved for future generations. The consortium also publishes announcements on scholarships, job opportunities, and upcoming events through its website and social media channels, helping members stay informed about ways to advance their research and careers while contributing to the broader goals of the international society.

The consortium's activities are guided by a dedicated board and supported by volunteers who organize workshops, summer schools, and collaborative projects throughout the year. These initiatives aim to provide hands-on experience and foster interdisciplinary dialogue among participants from diverse backgrounds and regions. By maintaining an active calendar of events and a strong online presence, the Student Consortium ensures that students remain engaged with the latest developments in their field, whether they are participating in person or connecting remotely. This ongoing commitment to education and community building reflects the consortium's core mission of empowering the next generation of geospatial professionals.
